About FACES

General Statistics (from the 2006 annual report):
  • In the period from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006, FACES distributed 565,980 pounds of food.
  • This comes to about 10,000 pounds of food per week.
  • A total of 24,580 bags of food were distributed.
  • The average weekly distribution for 2006 was 615 bags.  This is a 6.4% increase from the previous year.
  • The average number of families served per week was 423.

Each bag unit includes:

  • cereal
  • pasta
  • crackers
  • canned goods
  • meat (as available)
  • produce (as available)
  • eggs (as available)
  • milk (as available)
  • juice (as available)
  • margarine (as available)
  • bakery items (as available)

Recently, we have obtained a truck, a fork lift, and a walk in freezer.

The FACES truck, obtained through a grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia sponsored by Johns Memorial Church of Farmville, allows us to transport food for distribution, such as gleaned produce from the area and other food such as venison from Hunters for the Hungry.

The walk-in cooler was donated by the Farmville Rotary Club and allows FACES to give meat, eggs, produce, milk, margarine, juice, and other perishable foods!
